Traveling Vocations Crucifix

The Traveling Vocations Crucifix promotes family prayer and awareness of vocations. Each week, a parishioner who has signed up ahead of time will receive the crucifix at the end of Mass from Father, take the crucifix home, put it in a prominent place, and pray daily for vocations. The crucifixes, which you can see displayed above, are beautiful, simple crucifixes kept in a nice wooden traveling case, and accompanied with daily prayers that all family members can say together each day of the week. The prayers are designed to help stir in our hearts an awareness that each child and adult is called to know his or her calling from God, and to call down God's blessing on each of us to help us discern the Lord's will in our lives. 

The family says these prayers before the crucifix at home each day of the week, and then simply returns the crucifix to the sacristy the following Sunday before or after any Mass. (We have two crucifixes, so there shouldn't be any problem if you return it after Mass.)

This is a wonderful way to involve parishioners, especially children, in praying for vocations, and to unite the parish in perpetual prayer for priests, deacons, holy marriages and consecrated life. You can sign up below to take the crucifix home for a particular week using the form below or calling the parish office. 

How It Works:

• Families can fill out the sign-up form below, call the parish office or  contact Director of Faith Formation to sign up for an available week to take the Crucifix.
• At the beginning of their pre-determined week, families attend their regular Mass, and Father will call the whole family up to receive the crucifix before Mass ends.  He will give you the box, say a blessing over you, and then you return to your seats.
• Take the box home and set up the crucifix in a prominent place in your home.  The idea is that families should pray the included prayers daily in front of the Crucifix. 
• There will be "vocations pamphlets" given to you as well.  Keep whichever ones you would like and then you can return the rest with the box.
• At the end of the week, simply return the Crucifix and unused pamphlets to the sacristy before or after any Mass.
